My wife is a girl who enjoys video games, but not FPS. My wife is ultra competitive as am I and we both hate to lose. In nearly 4 years of halo (edit uhh I mean marriage) she has played it with me once and her major frustration was that she is not as good as I am and the whole walking into walls while looking at the floor thing. She says the controls for halo give her motion sickness. In fact if you talked with her about halo much at all, you get the picture of her being a halo widow. She doesn't play it and doesn't want to. My wife is however the I want to run a marathon type of girl. Which I think is quite cool. Her running for hours on end gives me more time to park my butt and play some halo. I am more of the playing halo until my eyes bleed and eat mint oreos by the sleeve type of guy, but I always give support to my wife's endevours. This time though she wants to run a half marathon, together she wants me to run for hours on end for fun . So she asks me if will train for a few months with her and run a half marathon with her and my response is..

Absolutely...

-if she will learn to play halo with me. Her face shows serious dilemma. She needs time to think about it. A week later she comes back and explains the weekly commitment training will take and asks how many hours per week will she have to commit to halo. I say at least three hours a week. She says deal.

So it begins.

Very cool, nice compromise. I would recommend coop on easy. Give her time to learn the controls and go slow. It seemed to take me forever before I got the hang of it and I'm still slow on reaction time. But, I got to give you credit for training with her!!

You are going to be one healthy guy when she's done with you. Best of luck. Have fun together! My mom gets the motion sickness thing when playing games. She loves playing games, loves Warhawk, and she plays a bit of Socom. She puts the game down, walks around and runs in place a bit, gives her eyes something else to look at. Then goes back and plays some more. Tell your wife to take lots of breaks, to move her body around and look at something new.

If any of you want to try and talk your wife into joining in we will be playing through campaign together and you would be welcome to join. So if you see me in campaign you know what is up.

That's funny - my wife has run a half marathon...and I've been pwned by you in Halo for 3 hours a week. Maybe we need to make the same deal. I've run a 10k with her, but she's never played Halo with me. I think I'm losing this battle already! :) Good luck with your training!

Great news C! Glad you could both find an agreeance, hope this can take your relationship up another step even. Some advice for her would be to set her controller on inverted look, that made nite & day difference for me when starting. I know it would be boring for you but after some basics run some easy campaign with her, you take the brutes and she can clean up the grunts-lol If you two arent meshing in the training I would be glad to help, sometimes a neutral person takes the "pressure" off a newbie. Best of luck man.

Hmm... half a marathon? Sound's like a gateway-commitment to me. If she increases the ante, I trust you'll angle for more than 'additional Halo time?' Just lookin' for ya, ;-) Tac

That's awesome. I've tried to play Halo with Orzo a time or two but most the time I can't even come close to following. We should set up a time to play together. PM me if your interested.

Awesome... I just started to get into running and it can be addictive. I ran my first 5K last month. There is one on Sat. I want to run, but I can't since I will be out of town. Soon I am going to start training for a Half Marathon in Feb. A buddy from the gym told me about this website: http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm
