    60 INCHES OF AWESOMNESS !

What's interesting is I have a 53" standard def big screen TV (don't use it for xbox obviously) and that screen is actually about 3 inches taller but this new one is 10 inches wider.  It's really not that much bigger than that old big screen i have.  I'm kind of glad I didn't opt for the 55 or 50 inch model on this or it would have been a size downgrade!

Anyway i have it temporarily setup and tested with the Xbox since it's got so many different connection options.  I tested all 3 HDMI ports, the 2 component and the 3 composite, just have to test the VGA option.  The HDMI cable carried the sound through to the TV's simulated surround sound speakers too so that was a nice touch.

So get this...  This TV is a 2007 model Sony and they're not doing SXRB TV's anymore.  So these are on clearance.  Last year this TV was $3200 bucks and it had dropped to $2200ish around the holidays.  I saw this on clearance at Frys for $1599 on the weekend so i came back, did some research and thought it over.  Turns out this is a best in class rear projection TV for 2007 and all the reviews were gushing.  So I went back there on April 1st to buy it.  In the 2 days since i saw it on the weekend, the price had DROPPED down to $1439 , so like $150 bucks off!  Must have had something to do with depreciation and the month change, but whateves, 150 bucks saved on top of the already deep discount and this was just the best deal ......    And the Xbox 360 looks fabulous on it !

Nice! Welcome to the Hi-Def era. Just wait until you try out those HD-DVDs on it. Seriously the Planet Earth Series is amazing and you might be able to get it cheap now.

I have a Samsung 61" LED that I love as well. Welcome to probably the last generation of rear-projection screens, but it is going to last a decade, probably!

@Kewl: KDS-60A3000 @Caduceus: Ya rear projection seems to be a dieing tech just like plasma. But you can't beat the size for the price, only front projection is cheaper per inch. But to be honest, rear projection TVs have been around for a long time, my 'old' one is 10 years old now and not a day of trouble. It's solid proven technology. I'm not down with spending an ass load of money on this new generation of unproven technology screens. LCDs have been around a long time but they loose 1/2 their brightness after the first year almost and you can't just swap a bulb out to get it back. So i'll take the rear projection thanks :) @Jeep: No worries, nothing major going on . I'll IM you directly if there's a major breaking story how's that? :)
