When I added Perfume to my Netflix queue a few months ago, I wasn't sure if this was going to be a quality film or another period piece gone wrong. With Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman starring, I took the gamble. It certainly paid off. Perfume is the story of a young man born in Paris (whenever) under the worst possible circumstances. A fairly strange kid, Jean-Baptiste has a mutant-like sense of smell and a die-hard need to capture the scent of women. The directing is really good. The location shots are beautiful and the nudity is more plentiful than expected. Rent it and let me know what you think.
