I am finding Halo 3 is ok. Having the ability to play PC FPS titles I am not finding anything about Halo 3 exciting. It's what PCs have done 3 years ago. however, the ease of controls in forge and ease of replay are unique. you can do the replays and modify maps on PC but not as easily and quickly as Halo 3.
I am working on a UT style variation of Sandpit. Like the Face maps I am putting a sniper rifle on top of the towers with a teleport to get to it. I will put the power weapons in the center of the map with slow respawn times. I will bump speed to full 400%. And then if anyone wants a Hall of Giants style gameplay I can bump gravity down.
Single player, so far, sucks. It's just like Quake. Obvious linear levels with a bunch of bad guys. There really isn't that much of a story. BioShock and Half Life 2 are the games to get if you want a FPS with a deep story where you feel like you are in an interactive movie.
People were ragging on Shadowrun for being a multiplayer only game. I'd rag on Halo for having a short campaign. I haven't finished it yet but I see most people are beating the game in under 8 hours. This short campaign makes it mainly a multiplayer only game.
I am surprised Halo 3 hasn't been made for PC. I don't know why Microsoft wasted their time porting Halo 2 to PC so late. Though with Half Life 2 episode 2, Crysis, and UT3 around the corner I don't think any PC player would get Halo 3. But who knows, Bungie might pull an Epic and put Halo 3 on the PC with features not available on the 360. That really would be the only way it could sell on PC.
