Shared on Tue, 08/28/2007 - 08:04I was able to view the lunar eclipse this morning and it was, for lack of better words, awe inspiring. While I wasn't out at 5:30CDT, I did view around 6am. The moon had a fullness to its appearance and had a rose shading to it on the portion of the moon where it was passing out of the Earth's shadow. While the night sky was brighter than no moon present, the moon itself was shadowed. You could still make out the features of the moon, they were just darker. Which makes sense because a lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun. So, we can still see the moon.
Anyway, it got me to thinking about how life continues on whether we are watching or not. Do we actually pay attention to all that is occurring around us? I suppose this is a "Stop and smell the Roses" kind of morning. But, how much to we acknowledge the little things that are going on? The lunar eclipse would have occurred whether I saw it or not but the fact that I was able to view it this morning added something to this day. Everything will continue on as it would have if I hadn't stopped this morning but I have to admit I have an appreciation for those events that go on each day and I don't notice. The earth revolves each day, every now and then the moon passes between the earth and sun. Flowers bloom and die. Leaves on the trees are beginning to start their yearly death walk. It will be cold soon and the fauna will be in sleep mode or dead ( for those in the upper temperate climates and actually witness four seasons). And most of us will yearn for warmer days and greener grass.
The weekend approaches with the coming and of four more teenage boys to the household. Aye Carumba! I don't have enough Febreeze (TM) to counter all the testosterone that will be flowing through the house. On top of that college football starts this weekend and my Huskers are playing on television as will other Big 12 teams. Not to mention the first anniversary of being wed to Dastard. BIG WEEKEND!
With football on the boards, here is your would you rather for the day
Would you Rather
Be caught picking your nose on the huge screen at a big stadium
Or
On a first date with someone special?
Keep on Go!
