ranting about airlines

I had to travel to the east coast last week, i hate flying home and mostly it's because of the airlines and the airports.

Actually i can't really complain about the airports anymore. Security usually moves fast since those are now government funded agents and not privately funded. There are plenty to go around. As long as you educate yourself as to what can and can't go in the plane with you, this process is usually pain free. What's painful though is the check in process if you can't use the new do it yourself kiosks. Since the agents are privately funded by the airlines, there's barely enough people to do the work on a good day but when you add a disaster to the mix, the skeleton crew of agents just flat out can't and aren't prepared to handle any type of crisis.

Now lets get to the airplanes themselves. They need to take out reclining seats period or put some kind of restriction on them. I'm 6'2 and the asshole in front of me always needs to recline their seat. If it were a redeye or evening flight, ok i can see it you want to sleep. fine. But both my flights, one 4 hours and one 5 hours in length were daytime flights. So not only are these asshats killing my knees but I can't even use my laptop. I don't have a big monster 22" widescreen laptop either, i have an ultralight 13" widescreen. If i can't use this type of laptop in my seat then there's a problem... and i can't use it with the seat in front of me reclined in my face.

I found a product that jams the seat in front from reclining. It clamps onto the tray arms and when the douche in front wants to recline, it acts as a doorstop basically. FAA has no issue with using them either as long as they're used in conjunction with the usual restrictions around using your tray table. I just hate that I have to even think about buying such a device to stop the ignorance of the public i seem to fly with. Everyone is cramped in the cattle car, is it really necessary for you to invade my space with reclining in the middle of the day for no other reason than you think you're entitled to more room when you're like 3/4 my size?

It just pisses me off. The airlines need to do something about the reclining seat problem in airplanes. It's just gotten out of control.

They should just pack us in like cows on a truck. It's seriously a pain taking ordeal flying these days.

You should buy it and post about using it. I would be curious to know the person's reaction.
