Waterborn

I have been trying to get this video uploaded to youtube for some time. After much gnashing of teeth, I have succeeded.

A little background. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science & Biology and a Masters in Marine Aquaculture. I actually worked as a Marine Biologist for several large public and private aquariums for about 11 years. (more ties to the water). I first heard rumors about this video when in undergrad. I was a bit of an urban legend, or more appropriately an aquatic legend, around school. Marine Biology students would talk about this video much as people now talk about Paris Hilton videos, though at the time there was no youtube or myspace to help track it down. I saw this video for the first time just before graduating undergrad, and let me tell you, it was well worth the wait.

The subject matter at first glance seems blasse and perhaps a bit traggic, a whale, beached in Oregon, dead and in need of disposal. What to do with such a large corpse? Well, leave it to municipal powers that be to come up with the most entertaining, if not wise, answer.

When you watch this video, the quality is poor. The best part though is the sound. Turn it up and wait for the blast. The next ten seconds are golden.

Without further adieu, the Great Exploding Whale Trick. Enjoy!
