Oh, the summer-time has come
And the trees are sweetly bloomin',
And the wild mountain thyme
Grows around the purple heather;
Will ye go, lassie, go?

But when is the summer time? It seems Spring is coming early and the climate has changed, undeniably. 17 nations, 125,000 studies and 561 species of flora and fauna studied. It seems that on average spring time in Europe is 8 days earlier than it was 30 years ago and two weeks earlier in Spain where temperature rises are at it's highest. I wonder what effect this will have on eco-systems? Will animals adapt quickly enough? Will food chains be disrupted? I think I'll start stocking up on canned food and bottled water. Might get me a couple of guns too to go with the knives.

Oh Pluto, what a can of worms you have opened. The arguments are raging. Only 500 or so delegates of the 10,000 voted to deny you planet status since the rest had all gone home. Now the scientists are fighting, which is funny because it's less of a fight and more of an eyes closed, slapping match. Scientists are brainy not brawny after all. So perhaps Pluto will be a planet again rather than a dwarf planet. oooh, oooh, I sudenly had a vision of a planet full of dwarves! Cooooool.

Clan-tastic. The idea of gaming clans is funny. Why are they called clans? who started the idea? Was it Bungie? Obviously it was us, the Scots, that started off the clan thing many many years ago. I'm not talking tribes now. Many people had tribes. We have clans since the word comes from the Gaelic "Clannad" meaning family. The tartan on the blog page here is Clan Gordon (Ancient version) there are other version of the tartan,Hunting, Modern and traditional but I like this one and my kilt is this colour. Technically I should be probably be using Cambell since Gordon is on my fathers side and Cambell on my mothers side. Unusually for such things, upon marriage it was tradition that the male joined the female clan and all children followed the mothers clan. It's not so formalised in modern days I suppose but I'd hate to be a Cambell in certain parts of Scotland. That old Cambell/MacDonald thing. The animosity still bubbles to the surface in some parts and with some people. Since my wife is clan-less, though her mothers name is MacRae, I feel free to choose my own. So there.

Still no joy on the pen-fairy front. I lost another to her this week. I marked it with UV ink but no sign of it anywhere. I'm going to stick a bell on the current one and I tell ye, if that bell rings there one fairy that'll LOSE it's wings, at the very least.

O.K. I'm not a Scott, I've never been there, but my last name is Grant, and I like to claim that small part of my heritage and ignore the Greman, Swede and Norwegian. I don't know why. I hear that there's a castle Grant (in ruins) and some other Grantish things. Scotland is high on my list of places to visit. I'm just rambling here. An American geek who wishes he was somewhere else.

jtgjr007 I like your chutzpah, Ilike the cut of your gib. You are henceforth an honorary Scot. There's also Grants Whisky, which is all you need to know.

Pen-Fairy - the unseen office force that steals pens from the desk of unsuspecting staff. Widespread but rarely caught. See previous blog post.
