Ubisoft has finalized its previously announced acquisition of Driver from Infogrames (Atari). This deal comes not long after Atari show financial troubles. Perhaps this was to bring in $24 million to utilize in its current gaming line up?
Ubisoft states taht the aquisition of this franchise will allow them to break into the driving genre which it currently lacks any successful titles. Perhaps this purchase helps both parties, Atari financially, and Ubisoft's now wide range of genre coverage in the gaming market.
Driver has sold more then 14 million units worldwide, and the personnel of British developer Reflections can now look towards Ubisoft to drive its next release to market.
