Sega nabs rights to Alien(s) movies

Sega is the proud owner of a bouncing baby Alien...

“That's it man, game over man, game over! What the f**k are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?”

All I have to say is it’s about time we get to kill some aliens.

Finally, after a long hiatus we will be seeing some Alien games. Not since the scary and fun Aliens versus Predator game have we gotten down and dirty with the acid bleeding, Predator munching Aliens we have loved since it burst from the chest in the movie Alien.

With no firm word yet on platforms (other then PC and "next-generation" consoles) or even a date beyond "2008", we can expect an RPG and a First Person Shooter (FPS) from Sega based on the Aliens universe - but not on the movies directly.

Hollywood Reporter - Mike Gallo, senior producer of the "Alien" games at Sega, said the new games will not follow the strict story lines of any of the four films in the series but instead will provide a new experience by drawing from the history and lore that is the foundation of the films.
"We'll go out of our way to tie the games into the films in unique ways," he said. "We're also looking at all 'Alien' source material for inspiration, in addition to the films. We may incorporate some characters that fans know and love, and we may let gamers find answers to questions that were left unanswered in the movies."
