RockStar announces L.A. Noire

Rockstar Games today announced they will publish L.A. Noire, a next generation crime thriller.

L.A. Noire will be developed by a new Australian studio founded by Brendan McNamara formerly of The Gateway. Rockstar, made famous by publishing Take-Two Interactive's GTA series has entered into a similar partnership for publishing L.A. Noire for Bandai.

L.A. Noire will blend action, detective work and complex storytelling to draw it's players into an open-ended 'sandbox' style challenge to solve gruesome murders. The stage for the game is of course L.A. which as been meticulously re-created in a post-WWII style with plenty of corruption, drugs and jazz.

Sam Houser of Rockstar Games will be the Executive Producer and Brendan McNamara will be Director of Development for L.A. Noire. “Brendan and I have known each other for a long time, and to finally have the opportunity to work together on a game is exciting,” said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. “The longstanding mutual respect and the combined experience between the two of us make this a great partnership,” added Brendan McNamara, CEO of Team Bondi.

Watch the official website for the release of the trailer Oct 5th, 2006. There's no word on exactly which systems L.A. Noire will come out on but since GTA4 will be released on both Xbox 360 and PS3 It's probably a safe bet that L.A. Noire will as well.
