The August NPD group numbers are out and they're all in favor of the Nintendo DS again...
Nintendo's hand-held continues to pwn the competition. The race is on and Nintendo has over a 130,000 lead in sold units.
Tale of the Tape
- DS Lite: 250,599 units Sold
- DS (classic): 27,503 units sold
- PSP: 146,983 units sold
That means a total of 278,102 DS hand-helds were sold and only 146,983 PSP hand-held devices, a difference of 131,209. That's a significant lead.
Overall, in the hand-helds lifetime, Nintendo has 865,840 unit lead over the PSP although it was shipped before the PSP.
On the software side (games), the DS sold 1,090,810 units to the PSP's 875,638 units. The DS sold 215,172 more games than the PSP, which is not too surprising given they have more units in customers greedy little hands.
Can the PSP catch up and take the lead?
