Just in case 100+ hours of game play weren't enough, Bethesda has added an extra 20 hours of game play to the PS3 version.
If you're one of the lucky few who manages to buy the PS3 at launch, you will have at least one mega hit game to play, Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Even if you're not an RPG fan, this game should almost certainly be on your list of must-have games when you walk out of the store with your shiny new PS3. But you have already played the PC/Xbox 360 version. So why should you spend cash on an "old" game. New content that's why.
Bethesda wasn't content on just doing a File-Save As PS3 port of Oblivion. They expanded the game to add a whole new faction, The Knights of Nine. The quests will take place across Cyrodiil and your reward at the end promises to be a collection of "ultra-powerful" weapons.
The Knights of Nine missions will involve traveling the countryside collecting kits known as the Crusader's Relics. Not just anyone can join the Knights of Nine though, you will need to prove your worthiness first. To do that, you will travel Cyrodiil visiting shrines for the Gods of Tamriel. Once you have knelt at each of them, you can then join the Knights and set out on the quests for the Crusader's Relics. Each relic is yours to keep as long as you're an active member of the Knights and following the rules.
With each rune you find, word will spread through the land. The people of Cyrodiil will, in increasing numbers, go to the home of the Knights and pledge their allegiance while returning the area to its former glory. The quest will end once you've found all the relics and the home of the Knights has a thriving community. Your reward for finishing the faction quests is a +50 boost to attack.
Oblivion as it stands on the Xbox360 could be played for more than 200 hours. There's so much to see and do that you could dedicate your time to only playing Oblivion and be fully entertained for months. With the addition of even more content on the PS3, it is quite possible that former players of the PC or Xbox 360 version could dig into their pockets once again. It has not been confirmed whether the PS3 version will include the same extras available via the Market Place on the Xbox360 version but our guess is not. I'm sure Bethesda is eager to start the premium download offerings over the PS3 network as soon as they can and start a whole new era of 'Horse Armor' overpricing. Time will tell.
