It seems that Microsoft and Bungie is looking at expanding the Halo franchise to mobile gaming platforms
, no doubt to try and help Windows Mobile phone sales and maybe even Zune sales.
Though nothing has been specifically announced by Microsoft or Bungie, details of their plans have been made public in a lawsuit filed by In-Fusio. In-Fusio, a French developer, is the company Microsoft contracted with to develop the Halo mobile games and services.
In-Fusio is suing for wrongful termination of their agreement in which they paid Microsoft $2 Million in $500,000 payments between 2006-2008. In exchange, they were to receive the license to produce mobile games and services based on Halo, but Microsoft has final approval on all games and must provide feedback on rejections. According to In-Fusio, Microsoft has been rejecting everything with no explanation or guidance. In-Fusio decided to delay the second payment until Microsoft upholds their part of the agreement to which Microsoft answered with an agreement termination.
In the lawsuit, In-Fusio also talks about the Mobile Halo universe online service called Halo:Mobile Portal. This is a service that will let you check Xbox Live Stats, get tips, wallpapers and ringtones all Halo themed.
With the contractual dispute going on, it seems inevitable that whatever mobile Halo games were in the works will be in the works even longer.
