Shout! Factory plans to release a four-disc set of Captain N: The Game Master on DVD February 13th, 2007. Hold that date in your mind...
"Back in the day" some of us may recall Kevin Keene, a teenager from Northridge, California, and his dog Duke. They are summoned to another universe known as Videoland in order to fulfill an ancient prophecy.
Kevin becomes the hero "Captain N: The Game Master" and must save Videoland from the Forces of Chaos led by Mother Brain. Sound geeky? You bet!
Duke was not alone in his battle, joined by Princess Lana, Simon Belmont, Mega Man, Kid Icarus, Game Boy, Link, Princess Zelda and other Nintendo branded characters. Mother Brain had her own criminal team of Eggplant Wizard, King Hippo, The Count, Dr. Wily and other villians.
Pure Awesome.
The show as eventually cancelled along with other cartoons at that time because NBC started changing up their format to make room for more news programming. The show ran roughly 22-minutes in length from September 9th, 1989 to sometime in 1993. For some of us, it was part of our Saturday morning cartoon lineup.
Although the show only ran for three seasons, coming next year, it may be back to live again. Get your wallets ready because this sucker is a keeper. Many of us gaming adults will purchase such silly stuff to relive our past (and probably feel embarrased while doing so) and showing our children just how dated we really are. In the end, it is one more way to breath life into our retro past...
Thanks DSmooth for finding this rock'n information
