Case in point, Square Enix, a company that has pushed more Final Fantasy games on the PlayStation 2 than any other product franchise. Some may say that the Final Fantasy series is what sold the PS2 units to the market.
There is no doubt that a console company wants hot content on their system as soon as possible. They want it soon and they want it to be exclusive. But is that good for the publisher? Last generation shows that it was good. The next-generation consoles do not seem to be living up to that same exclusive content.

Square has been talking about supporting Sony but also pushing their product line onto other consoles. A good example: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3), Project Sylpheed (Xbox360) and Dragon Quest Swords (Wii). Normally Square Enix is all about the Sony branding but now they seem to be spreading out.
Covering more consoles means more sales, exposure and variety. It also means consumers can play more cool content without having to fork over two grand for all consoles and accessories. It seems like a big win for consumers.

GTA is another franchise that will be seeing console support on more than a single platform. Of course the terms "exclusive" today mean "for a few months" so that a console can gain some advantage and reward from being the first-to-market. However, a consumer can hold out a few months if they know that it will eventually make it to a new system, right?
Will you hold out to see hot games arrive on your current next-generation console? Or do you feel it's just like Pokemon - collect them all?
