Apparently, EB is a "trial" system at work in Hawaii for pre-ordering a Wii or PS3 using USD $50.00 in game trade-ins. You go down to the EB store and start tossing games at them until they tell you that you've got fifty bucks worth. They then allow you to sign up to be on the pre-order list. Your $50.00 credit will go towards the new console upon release.
This means you can pre-order a Wii/PS3 early...or so they say. It is a "trial" program that they're trying to get reactions from customers before putting it into nation wide circulation.

The problem? Let us say you trade in $50.00 worth of games and a month from now EB sets up a system where gamers can pre-order for $50.00 down. Do you get your games back since, now, anyone can sign up? What makes the system so special?
What makes it special is that EB is trying to burn you of your games because of the Wii and PS3 hype. You trade in your games today for a chance to be on the list for a console tomorrow. It is apparently a "win win" situation. You get your pre-order first and they can make 200% profit on the games you traded in! Yay. Everyone wins right? Until pre-orders open up at all stores and you feel like you lost some games you probably could have made more money with on eBay.
You think it's a joke? allgames.com called them and recorded it. Check it out here.
My suggestion? Save your games, sell them for what they are worth and hold out for a Wii pre-order.
