COD 2 Multi Player Patch: 2 Little 2 Late?

2old2play has just learn via Xbox Forums that Infinity Ward, developers of Call of Duty 2, will soon be releasing a patch for their current failed attempt at a quality online component for COD:2.  Among the patches are many new features which include Private Game Lobbies / Reserved Slots, Enabled the Live Host to set custom game options, Map Preferences settings, Post Game Lobbies and more.  With all these features and a "fix" to online lag, could COD: 2 capture the hearts of FPS fans out there once and for all?  With the release of Ghost Recon only 11 days away is this too little to late?  Read on for all the fixes. Dear Call of Duty Community:

As you recall, we announced plans that we were working on our second Title Update for Call of Duty 2, improving the Xbox Live multiplayer functionality. We’re happy to report that this update is currently in the final stages of testing and all is going well. In fact, we will be releasing it soon, so stay tuned. To give you a better understanding of what we have been working on, the second COD2 Title Update will have the following enhancements:

1. Player Lag has been addressed

Plus, we have added the following functionality:

2. Private Game Lobbies / Reserved Slots

3. Enabled the Live Host to set custom game options

4. Map Preferences setting

5. Post Game Lobbies (all players at end of match will return to their game lobby)

6. Enemy Player Name Notification

7. Ability for the Host to kick a player

8. In game Lobby - Game Type, Map and Host Notifications

Again, thank you for your support…and stay tuned for future updates!

- Infinity Ward

It looks like everything the community has asked for is listed in this update, but does it really matter at this point?  With GRAW almost at our door step and the Outfit, Oblivion, and other March releases right around the corner it may be hard for Infinity Ward to recapture the hearts of it's fan base.  2old2play would like to know what you think about this update.  Will you be dusting off your COD:2 disc and will it make new comers to the 360 go out and buy the game?  Let us know.  As for the release, Infantry only says it will be "soon" so we will just have to wait and see.  I should hope that they would try to get the patch out before these March titles make it to store shelves.
