In case you still have some gifts to buy for the gamers on your Christmas shopping list or just want a new Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 game cheap...
head over to Buy.com.
Buy.com, as well as a few other online resellers, have been running a promotion with Google and it’s new check out service. Back in October, you could save USD $10 off a purchase of USD $30 at Buy.com if you check out using Google Checkout. For Thanksgiving, a new promotion has been posted, this one will save you USD $20 off a purchase of USD $50, again, if you check out using Google Checkout.
So if you’re looking for the latest Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 game or bought someone a system for Christmas and want to get that person a game on the cheap to go with it, consider Buy.com. You can’t go wrong buying the latest games at $39.99 rather than the typical price of $59.99. There is no word on how long this promotion will continue, but it is assumed to go on at least until 11/30/06.
How does this promo work? You go to Buy.com and find the game you want to purchase (it doesn’t have to be a game by the way, your shopping cart just needs to be full of $50 worth of items to get the deal). When you have found the game, click "add to cart." You’ll see your shopping cart item list on the right the game will be listed. Now look for the Google Checkout button under your item list and click it. You want the Google Checkout button, not the regular orange Checkout button.
Once you click the Google Checkout button, you’ll see a specific Google checkout screen. Here you will need to create a Google Checkout account or if you already have a Gmail account, you can sign in on the right. Fill in the regular billing info, credit card info etc, agree to the terms & conditions and you’re set. You will get an email from Google and Buy.com on the progress of your order to whatever email address you supplied. The price listed in the Buy.com emails will be incorrect but don’t worry about it, Buy.com isn’t billing your credit card - Google is doing the charging. The Google Checkout emails will have the correct price.
I have used this promo three times now and each time Buy.com delivered the goods in a timely manner and Google Checkout billed me the correct discounted amount. So this system works, take full advantage of it. One last tip: break your orders up into $50 chunks. If you want two games, do two different orders so you get $20 off each game. Shipping is free if you pick the free shipping method, so multiple shipping packages will not cost you a dime and will maximize savings.
Happy Gaming!
