After the long wait, World of Warcraft fans line up in the icy snow to stake their claim as supreme dork.
Lucky 2old2play was there and brought their camera along to snap some shots. Contrary to many other reports, Chicago's midnight opening was quite uneventful. No West Side Story style fights broke out between Horde and Alliance which I must admit was a little disappointing. When total geeks are out in the wild, they tend not to speak much. Most of them just stood quietly in the ice cold, planning their future weekdays and weekends in the new dungeons to come.
What amazed us most though, was how different all the people were from each other. There were parents, business types, and hipsters, but most notably was the fact that almost all of them were 2old2play. After about an hour of listening to one customer talk about his 10 level 60's, I almost wanted to remind him of the real world and his lack of grasping it. Then again, this was their church and who was I to judge (I have a level 54 of my own).
In any event, the launch seems to have gone off without a hitch, and so far the installs have not crash any of Blizzard's servers. So to all the 8 million dorks out there, 2old2play would just like to say good hunting.
