Activision Inc. purchases Beenox, a conversion/porting company based in Quebec, CA.
Beenox has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision. Most PC and console gamers may not know the name Beenox because it may be more familiar with Macintosh gamers. Beenox is know for its great abilities to port games from other platforms over to the Mac.
Beenox is finishing its port of Star Wars: Battlefront (due in June) and will then focus its efforts on Activisions desires. Activisions publishing president Kathy Vrabek said:
Does this mean we will see more ports from one console to another or perhaps more compatabilities with PC games and console games? Will Activision be re-focusing Beenox to convert its games on consoles and less work on the Macintosh?
Hopefully Beenox is as good as Activision believes. It is well known that many ports from one system to another come out terrible (Counter-Strike for the Xbox for instance). Hopefully Beenox can port games and still make then as enjoyable as the original developer intended.

"Beenox's extensive porting background will be a key component of our console transition strategy by allowing us to focus our resources on next-generation technologies while continuing to develop games for current-generation systems."Beenox is a licensed developer for Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation 2 which is nice, but it was the conversion specialty that caught the eye of Activision Inc.
