We're making our final plans for E3 and this year our coverage is guaranteed to be even better than last year! I'll never forget coming to the home page later in the week during E3 last year and seeing the E3 icon all the way down the page for all the E3 news items. It brought some sweet tears of joy to my eyes!
This year our onsite team once again consists of Derek "DSmooth" Nolan, Joel "doodirock" Albert and myself, Tiffany "ElektraFi" Nolan. The three of us will attend press events on Monday, multiple appointments with developers throughout the week and the best of the gaming industry parties. It's a full week of non-stop work and play, and quite frankly, we love it!
Our home writing staff this year will be headed up by our Editor, frizzlefry2, and Head Writer, SarcasmoJones. These guys have a hefty task ahead of them. They will aid the writing staff as they turn the onsite teams' notes into a cohesive story that is more news worthy than just "this game is awesome. I jizzed all over the place." Yes, that really was in someone's notes last year! Obviously not my notes...
We added a few new staff members last month to ramp things up pre-E3 and you may have seen some of them around already. This seems like a good time to introduce them, as well as reintroduce our current writers.
frizzlefry2, 2old2play Editor
Steven “frizzlefry2” Boulé discovered his love for gaming playing classics such as Missile Command, Dig Dug and Q*bert. When not editing for 2old2play, frizzlefry2 enjoys platformers, action/adventure, RPG’s, first person shooters and Polynesian Tatau.
Sarcasmo Jones, Head Writer
Rod "Sarcasmo Jones" Wymer has been gaming since the early days of the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64. A casual member of the 2Old4Forza clan, Sarcasmo enjoys heavy metal, racing games, RPGs, SP shooters, and hearing himself talk. Most folks know him as the head writer for 2Old2Play, other folks refer to him as "that asshole from Twitter." This handsome, well-aged Texan is here to play.
ChunkySoup, Senior Writer
Tim “ChunkySoup” Dorscher started his gaming career with a bit of luck. His Tiny-Mite hockey team had a “pay what you pull” draw that netted his parents $300. The next morning, his parents foolishly let the family put their wish lists in a hat and drew a name. That fateful day started it all as not only was his name picked, he came home with an Atari 2600 with Combat and Dodge’em. Many consoles and PC upgrades later, he still likes blowing stuff up and refuses to use his brakes. He loves playing games on his own or with his two kids, fetch with his dogs and sitting on the couch for a little co-op gaming with Mrs.Soup.
ErinAS, Senior Writer
Erin is a born and bred Masshole gamer who started at a young age watching her dad play Atari. She currently games on all consoles as well as has a home arcade cabinet and 2 pinball machines (Erin has games instead of children). Erin is actually pretty terrible at a lot of video games and continues her trend of watching her husband play games and “managing” him from the comfort of the couch sans controller. Her favorite type of games are point and click adventures, platform, and rhythm which fits nicely with her love of prog rock and live music.
CapnMikeM, Noob
Mike "CapnMikeM" Mahoney could be quickly categorized as a father and gamer. But really no one can be summed up in just once sentence, can they? Hailing from the Boston area, Mike is a father of 3, who much to the chagrin of his wife, has passed down his love of video games to his boys. Dad's favorite genres are shooters and action/adventure, while the kids are into sports, platformers, and anything Lego related. Of late, you can find Mike on Xbox Live most nights playing some sort of COD game with his friends in Team HitMarkers. Mike is also a recent convert to PC gaming, who can resist the Steam sales, right? In the coming months, look for Mike to expand his internet presence by not only writing for 2old2play.com but also starting a new podcast and becoming a Twitch streamer.
EvolveYourself, Noob
Andrew "EvolveYourself" Coggin is a 36 year old man who proudly ceased his mental maturation at the age of 15. He revels in the things that made him happy when he was a freshman in high school; grunge music, the movies of Kevin Smith, self-exploration, "Lunchables" snack boxes, Dungeons and Dragons novels, the comedy of Bill Hicks, more self-exploration and, of course, video games. Andrew still has every game console he has ever owned, and wonders why his twenty-four year old NES still works, yet he's now on his fourth Xbox 360. Andrew has spent the last several years working as a lowly peon of a certain orange-hued home improvement cooperation, but his real dream is to grow up and become a professional fortune cookie fortune author. His promise to you all is that every fortune he writes, every single one, will work with the "in bed" gag. "May your life be full of the joy and happiness brought forth by self-exploration....."
ferretgr, noob
My name is Gerry and I'm a gameaholic. I've been gaming since my dad brought home Pong. 30 years later, I'm a console and PC gamer, and my stacks of games reveal my addiction: a Steam sale means no groceries for the week.
LOKI619
Loki619 resides in Southern California and is a gamer, dad, husband, full time financial aid/culinary school administrator, and freelance commercial photographer. When he isn't behind a console, computer, or camera, he can be found spending time with his family, experimenting with food in the kitchen, geeking out on comic books, manga, anime, or graphic novels, or working out at the gym to help increase his character stats as he currently has a THAC0 of 3.
Romulan117, Noob
Randy, "Romulan117" is a huge trekkie and is currently lost in space or sitting in a theater watching the new Star Trek over and over...and over again.
TANK
TANK aka TANK 2old2play on Live hails from the west coast, splitting his time between the mountains of Eastern Washington and Northern California. He has been a staple here on 2old2play since July 2005 and over those years has contributed heavily in the forums with 20,000+ posts, maintained a top 10 blog, written for the former 2old2play eMagazine and has contributed news articles for the front page. He is a dedicated Xbox 360 gamer, Achievement Whore and an all around technophile.
ThePengwn, Noob
Ryan "ThePengwn" Bokman is a mild-mannered software engineer by day and a full-time geek-gamer by night. Despite being a gamer, he also enjoys the great outdoors on regular camping trips as long as he has a Kindle Fire, DS, or iPhone nearby to manage his habit. While he may be called "ThePengwn", he has no affiliation with Batman's nemesis...he just likes penguins. You will typically find him logged into Xbox Live playing all different manner of games, but every once in awhile an MMO will call to him and his PC will be chugging away while he grinds through levels searching for that next big dungeon.
TwiztdFred
Alfredo “TwiztdFred” Garcia Jr hails from South Texas, where he grew up in the City by the Sea. Now living in California, his love of gaming began in the eighties when he got his first console, the Super Nintendo, and he has been hooked since then. He has been married going on twelve years and his wife, Marla, is the best. She is actually the one who bought most of his consoles. Father to six, yes six, oldest twelve, youngest two, who are all budding gamers. He has been in the Navy for almost twelve years. An electrician by trade and works on helicopters, he’s been around the world and has the pictures to prove it. Juggalo by choice, for those who know, Whoop Whoop. Gaming is a passion that he takes to heart, as he is always willing to try new games and ready to help those who ask.
We look forward to your comments and feedback next week. It's going to be one hell of an E3!
