The "We Love PC Games" Contest

It's the giving time of the year and what better way to celebrate the season then with another video games and hardware give-a-way contest. This month, we show the PC members some love.

It's no secret that 2old2play consists mostly of console players. After all consoles are the easiest type of "Next Gen" video games to purchase and set up. But what about the old school PC people on the site? While the numbers are not nearly as large, they do make up a significant size of the 2o2p universe. This shouldn't be a surprise as PC is the most recognizable platform out there to the older gamer. I for one still remember playing Kings Quest back in the day for hours on end.

However, even with it's size the editorials we see many game journalists writing today about PC gaming seem to revolve around it's decline. With games that require more and more money to play (Crysis for example) we can see how people might be more inclined to take the cheaper route and forgo the PC experience. Does this mean that PC gaming is really on the decline?

So What Is The Contest?

We want find out why you, the older gamer, still thinks the PC gaming platform is a viable and productive system for the future of video games. To enter, all you have to do is write up an editorial of your own. Explain why you still play PC, how the PC helps push the industry, or even how the cost can effect you the consumer. It doesn't matter what question you want to tackle so long as you can come up with a compelling reason as to why the PC is still the choice for gamers.

The winner will be chosen by our editorial staff and have their story published on the home page of 2o2p for all to see. They will also receive a pair of Turtle Beach Ear Force AK-R8 for a truly professional surround sound gaming experience. If that isn't enough, we will handing them a copy of both Crysis and Hellgate London for the PC; two of the biggest PC releases this year. The runner up will have a choice of either Crysis or Hellgate. All copies will be sent to the winners via download from the EA download center. Sound good? Well lets see some writing people!

Who Can Enter?

In order to enter you must be a member of 2old2play, over the age of 25, and have signed up on the site as recently as November 1st 2007. That means you cannot sneak into the site with some great piece you wrote 3 years ago for your high school news paper. So if you are thinking of signing up with the site just for the contest, think again. It also helps if you have some basic knowledge of the English language. As you know, all content on 2old2play is written by members, but that doesn't mean its an easy job for our editors. Please proof read your stuff before you send it.

Where do I Send it?

There are two ways to send in your editorials to 2old2play. The first way is to send your copy of the piece to contest@2old2play.com. If that doesn't float your boat, you can also submit the piece through our SUBMIT NEWS button on the main navigation of the site. If you choose to send via email, please note that attachments will often be treated as spam by our server. In this case it is best to place the story in the actual email instead of as a word doc attachment.

What Are the Rules?

The rules are simple. All you have to do is send one email or submit to the site with your editorial by January 10th 2008. The winner will be chosen January 15th the following week with their piece published the following day. Remember you MUST have been a member of 2old2play before the November 1st 2007 date in order to enter. All entries from members having joined after this date will be null and void. Please ensure that your entry is in a readable format. 2old2play cannot account for issues with email spam so be aware of how you send your entry to the site.

Why are we doing this?

For one, we love PC games. Other then the obvious, we want to encourage more members from the site to explore their editorial side. After all, 2old2play is run by it's members and the more members that discuss gaming topics, the more the industry can read about our points of view. More content equals more discussion. As a reminder, if at any time you have an editorial, news tip, or review, please don't hesitate to send it to our news room via the Submit New button in the main site navigation. 2old2play is our forum for older gaming news. Let help to keep our points of view alive.
