The Toughest Thing I Have Ever Done...

It is currently week 23 of my 52 week bet with my wife.


After the August Chicago LAN she bet me that if I didnt touch Halo 2 online for a year I could get the XBOX 360 and Halo 3 when Halo 3 comes out.


The XBOX has been a long standing "discussion" in our young marriage with good points being made on both sides.  However, after the Chicago LAN I was ready for a break.  And frankly after the cold sweats, jitters, shakes and thumb cramps ended I have been able to assume a somewhat normal existance with much lower blood pressure.  I do miss the occasional games that I would have with the 2OLD2PLAY folks, although I doubt many would remember me.  These days It can be a struggle to hold my coffee cup since my thumbs are about 1/3 their peak gaming strength.  I managed to get my wife to play the Burger King games the other day... no where near as satisfying as a sticky grenade to the face. 


For now I will spend my evenings playing legendary when my wife is at night classes, hoping to one day re-emerge from my chrysalus of non-on-line hell to play in a vastly improved and HiDef world of Halo 3 on-line multiplayer...

I'll help!\r \r Send me your copy of Halo 2 for safe keeping while you're out. Not only will I finally get a chance to play it, but you won't have the temptation. ;)\r \r Seriously tho', keep it up. The 360 is worth it. :D\r \r B.

Wow! That is a serious bet you have with your wife. I can imagine that this is very hard for you as I remember how serious a player you are (were) from the lan parties. I hope your wife understands the agony you are going through. Just a few quick button presses and you could be online with your buddies and each night you deny yourself that escape. \r \r Congratulations on making it halfway. It is all downhill from here on out. To help tide you over, the current online FPS's for the 360 have not raised the bar over Halo2 yet so you ain't missing much.\r \r

Wow, I just removed you from my FL 'cuz I haven't played with you in so long - now I know why. I'll keep a spot open for you for when you start back up again. A whole year is insane man. Good luck, you can do it. And I agree with Drewsky, you aren't missing much with the 360 yet...

You can do it! I walked away from Halo2 for 18 months, only picking it back up again this past November. The first few months were tough and again at about the 10th month, I kept wondering what all my old clanmates were doing. But all the talk of Halo3 brought me back and damn, do I suck now....
