Breaking with Tradition... Chicago LAN
It's official. I wont make it to this year's LAN. That is kind of pathetic considering I live about 40 minutes from the venue. But, a longer running family tradition has coincided with this years festivities. It's a rough spot for me. I have been putting in my time trying to not play anything Halo related (or video games in general) for one year. Here I am in the home stretch of my bet with my wife and now I get smacked with this. I'll make my 365 days on August 6th. Which if I remember correctly was the final date of the LAN from last year. My prize will be a shiny new XBOX 360 and Halo 3 when it arrives.
A whole year of no video games has been an interesting experience. I would say that at my "peak" of Halo play I was borderline obsessed. I didnt mind that I wasnt the best out there, I just needed that next game, almost like a drug. Not necessarily a healthy way to play. I did find a happy medium eventually. I look back at Halo and I miss playing with the 2O2P members. I miss the good clean Timmy free action that was had. I have been very silent in the forums... OK non-existant but, I still check in to see what is going on and to make sure I dont miss any crazy developments. The year has brought many changes. Time I would have spent gaming has gone into other pursuits... a new deck built on the house... garage shelving... I actually got so bored I went through my storage boxes. Imagine how bored I had to be to sit up and think that going through storage would be a fun idea.
My latest endeavor is my new 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit. I got it about 4 weeks ago. With my spare time and cash I am modifying it. Nothing drastic, just a few things to set it apart from the rest. I'll try and attach a link of some pictures... http://picasaweb.google.com/DanPJordan/RabbitModifications?authkey=Ql6dj3F8SA0 I hope this works.
For now I will have to sit and wait for the next monumental step in the Halo world. September 25th is going to be a crazy day. I'm looking forward to rejoining the 2O2P world.
Maybe if I ask Doodi he will let me in to the LAN on Friday night for an hour on my way home from work? Then its off to the airport the next morning to hit Central Oregon for some good clean camping fun.
If I dont see you August 10th... I'll see you all soon enough in late September on-line...
