After weeks of waiting my reservation for Halo 3 came through finally.



One month and two days to go. That's a whole month to work on clan support - you listening Micro$oft?

This past Monday evening my wife and I had the very rare opportunity to get out of the house without our children and go out to dinner and enjoy each others company. We had a great meal and decided to have dessert at the local Baskin Robbins. Now, we don't have a Baskin Robbins in our home town so this is an extra special event for us as my wife's favorite ice cream is Mint Chocolate Chip from Baskin Robbins.

The family went over to the inlaws house last night for supper and when we were finished my father-in-law announced that he had a surprise for us and led us around the corner. As we walked through the door we saw this-

At a recent East Texas festival (and we have a lot of them) I spotted a familiar face under one of the tents. He was looking over the goats and pigs for some 4H display and it finally hit me:

Lady Bird Johnson passed away today in her home in Austin, Texas. She was most well known for promoting the Highway Beautification Act while her husband was in office as well as her initiative to have native wild flowers planted along the major highways of Texas. She held a special place in the hearts of many Texans and she will be sorely missed.

Lady Bird Johnson passed away today in her home in Austin, Texas. I have always liked to figure out how things worked and make them work "better". That usually meant making something move faster, shoot farther, etc.  I also really appreciate a good hack and I have found a great one from Kipkay over at metacafe who also seems to have the same passion.

The hack involves turning a fairly pedestrian 2AA flashlight into a retina-scalding pocket rocket for less than what you would pay for lunch.  Here is a picture of two lights - the stock version and the modded version:
