Damn you HGTV!

Watching decorating shows is trouble. I had been unhappy with the wall art on a pretty big wall in my living room for quite a while. HGTV just makes me remember how unhappy I am even more. It was a print of Starry Night. A great painting, but unoriginal and bought-at-strip-mall looking (because it was). Compared to the hand-made clock that was purchased from a local artist and my 11th grade oil pastel copy of 'Scream' (which is actually pretty good) it didn't fit. I had been eyeing this piece of metal work for months thinking about buying it - but I just didn't want to spend the money. Here's a the piece I wanted. It's called "Black Hole" by Carl Ash. Pretty awesome huh?

So instead I got the random idea to paint my own black hole...My husband was beyond skeptical. Here's the progression of my work over about 9 hours (my back hurts).

Obviously - I'm no Carl Ash...But it turned out better than I would have expected. Let's see how long this tides me over until I say 'fuck it' and buy what I really want.

I like yours much better. I'm not a fan of metal work art in that 2D \"grinder applied to a elevator door\" style.
