Midnight Special

Oh, the Midnight Special. I was still a young one when the Midnight Special was on TV. My older sisters were allowed to stay up and watch the show, but I had to go to bed long before it came on. I have fond memories of staying awake so I could sneak to the stairway and catch a glimps of the bands. Once in a while you got a very special performance like this one here.

July 7 2011

The good ol' days when bands had to really play. No lip-syncing, no studio touch ups. Bands back then sounded just as good as thier records (or even better) when the played thier songs live. Too many "musicians" these days rely so heavily on things like auto-tune or running everything through millions of dollars of studio equipment that they can not reproduce that sound live.

Always a Classic

And a good look at Iommi's fingers recently after his accident.

"An industrial accident at the age of 17 on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory, he lost the tips of the middle and ring finger of his right hand. Iommi considered abandoning music, but his boss encouraged him to reconsider by playing a record by jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, who earned wide acclaim despite limited use of his fretting hand following an injury.

Way, Way, Waaayy Back

Me and the wife watched "Let There Be Rock - AC/DC" 30 year anniversary Blu-Ray. Was awesome to see again. Made me see just how far back I could find some AC/DC.

Happy 4th of July Weekend

I love great bands before they went to superstardom... when they are still hungry.
