It is so sad that children think that being a pop-star is the most important thing they can achieve with their lives. I guess that is where post-modernism is leading us.

That makes me sick to think of it. Obviously TV is raising the children, if they were out with friends and family doing sports, being involved in church/Sunday school, etc, you would think their priorities would be different.

Well, what do we expect when those are the only role models kids get these days. Kids see celebrities get away with crimes, they have the best house and cars. So much value is put on these things in today's society and in the media. Money = happiness is what is impressed onto the Kids. Look at whats on the news and TV shows all the time, celebrities, and what they wear, and where they live. They are depicted as the pentacle of accomplishment. Kids are constantly barraged with how celebrities are the most aesthetically pleasing (by the media's standards). The "prettiest" people are chosen for reality shows, not average people. That isn't "reality". Kids must be taught that what they see on TV and the media and movies is not the "Real" world. Kids are highly impressionable. They see all that attention and glamour and they want that too. The news and the media never give that sort of attention to the average guy, or to the scientist or teacher. It is up to the individual parent to instill the right view of "reality" to their Kids. Don't let the TV and popular media raise your kids for you and we wont have that sort of misinterpretation impressed upon the children. Just my .02
