And another thing ...

This story reminded me of a rambling diatribe I saw on MSNBC the other day (the only 5 minutes of cable news I've seen all year) where they cover how the President "went street", which in turn recalled another video that's been rattling around in the back of my head for a few weeks now.  All of these comments are patently racist and I'm tired of certain individuals getting a pass on it because they look like they feel guilty for it or because they "mean well".  Just so we are perfectly clear, there is no "Black President of the United States", there is only "The President of the United States".  For that matter, he is *my* president, and when you talk about him in this way it demeans him, it demeans the office and it PISSES ME OFF.  So quit it.

Great quote Peepshow, one that echoes my beliefs in full. Azure - Just curious, why would a socialist have no business being President? Is socialism a dirty word in the USA? That 'white guilt' line seems like a load of horseshit to me. I thought Obama was elected because he stood for 'change'. Wasn't that his great line? Have you guys seen much change yet?

Race has nothing to do with anything other than why he was elected. Because it only counts when it's working in his favor. If you disagree or dislike the man, you're labeled a racist and summarily dismissed. The administration has done so on NUMEROUS occasions. If you can look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that this man was elected because of his qualifications, then you should sell ice cream in Alaska. He had 0 experience and rode the wave of dissent from the Bush years and white guilt all the way into the oval office. He's a socialist and has absolutely no buisness being our president. Priminister maybe.....

In Illinois Obama voted "present" so many times, including on issues that really mattered, that no one really knows what he is willing to stand up for, if he is willing to stand up at all. But as Karl Rove said (and yes, I vomited in my mouth a little but he occasionally get's it right) "present" isn't an option for the Presidency. Needing to have people tell you to get pissed off and kick ass kind of detracts from the whole "leadership" concept. Of course, I think I was questioning his lack of experience about 20 months ago. Can I slip in an "I told you so"?

Race has nothing to do with anything other than why he was elected. He wasn't elected because he is black, he was elected in SPITE that he is black. He had 0 experience and rode the wave of dissent from the Bush years and white guilt all the way into the oval office. "White guilt"??? WTF are you talking about? That's dumbass conservative speak to explain why some white people actually think for themselves. In his 8 years, Bush ran this country into the fucking ground and people were SO fed up with the republican party that they would vote ANYONE into the white house. Race had nothing to do with it, white people didn't vote for him because they were guilty about how the black man has been treated, they voted him in because the alternative was another 4 years of the same shit. Bill Clinton didn't have any experience (what, running a two-bit state?) Same thing with Carter. They were voted in because people were fed up with the current administration.

I can't get over the fact that anyone actually believes in politicians at all anymore. Time and time again they've proven they aren't any more trustworthy than the whore on the corner. To quote Bill Hicks: "I'll show you politics in America. Here it is, right here. 'I think the puppet on the right shares my beliefs.' 'I think the puppet on the left is more to my liking.' 'Hey, wait a minute...there's one guy holding both puppets!'"
