Why 2old2play is the Best Gaming Community on the Web

We currently have almost 60 clans representing all facets of gaming, from FPS clans (Halotards & MVP) to third person tactical shooter clans (Digital Violence, PPC and my very own AOW),. We have system specific clans like 2old2resist (PS3) & Coffin Dodgers (Xbox360) and RPG clans such as GWG (Guild Wars), 2o2pMTG (Magic the Gathering) and of course WOW (Veterans of the Horde). We have social clans that rally around a given game like Halo 2 (Mature Rage & xBx), Halo3 (HaloTards) and clans that focus on specific game-types like Sports (2old2playGSN), Racing (2old4Forza, 2old2drive) Music & Rhythm games (The Lone Rangers), Fighting Games (2old2fight) and even clans that just want to stir up some s*&t and just have fun (Old Man Mafia, Profanity, 2old2pwn, 2old4Timmy).

 

And the one common ingredient in the mix is that we all are “mature gamers”. Technically, this means that we are all supposed to be over 25 years of age and have had time to learn what is important in life. The reality is that we all understand one central truth, gaming is an activity to be enjoyed, in whatever form we may choose to experience it. As a community, we are lucky to see very few of the stressors like flame wars, cliques and what we term here at 2old2play as “General Timminess” all too common on other sites. Sure, we are not “rainbows and sunshine” all the time (except of course for our very own JediKez). We have our warts and our disagreements from time to time, but in the end, this community never fails to rise above all the crap often associated with online communities.

 

Nothing has brought this fact home quite as much for me as the recent experience that I had while working to organize the upcoming 2old2play Xbox Live Community Playdate scheduled for February 8th (see http://tinyurl.com/dvs98 for details). As many of you may know, I have worked hard to set up this event and was looking forward to participating and representing 2old2play to the greater gaming community. However, as fate would have it, my Xbox 360 succumbed to the dreaded “Red Ring of Death” on Christmas Day. I was resigned to following the action from the sidelines, unable to participate as I awaited the return of my newly anointed doorstop. However, this community came to my rescue, and through the kindness of many (http://www.2old2play.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=502094#502094) I will now have a loaner 360 to use during the 2old2play CPD.

 

I would like to thank everyone who makes this site the incredible place that it is. Thanks to doodi and the founders who created 2old2play. Thanks to everyone who provides content for this site (Dsmooth, Codemonkey, MJ, Phreak, Tank and the many others too numerous to list here). Finally, I would like to send out a special Thank You to all the quiet members of 2old2play, to those who make up the vast majority of this community. Those who may not write blogs, post news, create podcasts or other content, but who are there day in and day out, online and posting on the message boards. You folks are the heartbeat of this community and keep this train rolling. You rock!
