Unless It Actually Does Kill You First

Well, I had planned to post the finale to my tail of errant luck and descent into madness tonight. However, today was simply too good of a day to continue to dwell on the shortcomings of last week. For those of you who are still interested in the conclusion of my tale of woe, here is the Reader's Digest version of the rest of my week.

  • Wednesday: Without a car, I was forced to cancel my attendance at an event for work. I organize numerous outside events for my company, work which requires me to carry quite a bit of supplies, including tents, banners, product and SWAG. No car, no carry and no help available from my company. Slight silver lining to this cloud - the incescent rain that has plauged the Boston area all summer returned and the event was cancelled at the 11th hour anyway.

  • Thursday: Things seemed to be looking up. The day was going better. I took the train to work and the sun decided to show up about mid-day. I play in an adult (loosely used term) kickball league with my girlfriend and her group. Thursdays are game nights. We had a game scheduled for 6:30 pm. I get to the game, play one "inning" and am suddenly overtaken by a combination of nausea and chills. By the third inning, I had to sit out for fear of exploding as my intestines were apparently dissolving. By the time we got home at about 8:30 pm, it was a night full of frantic excursions to the bathroom and fever. I "woke" up on Friday, having not slept much, but happy to remember that I had the day off. I stayed in bed until almost noon and slowly regained my will to live.

That is pretty much it. What I did on my summer vacation, also known as "My Week In Hell".

Like I said, this week seems to be off to a much better start and I really try not to dwell on the negative. I rode my bike to and from work today without incident and under clear skies. I am working on a source of funding to ensure my attendance at the LAN and hope to have some $ by the end of the month. Life is too short to sweat those things that don't go my way. The community here rocks and I want to thank everyone who has posted offers of food, beer and various other means of support during the LAN. I WILL BE THERE. Somehow, someway, I will be there. So get your drinking hats on and get ready for some fun, cause Awesome Town is only a month away.
