Robotron Monitor Discharge Videos

So I discharged the monitor to my Robotron cab and did the cap kit this weekend. Here is some video from my first attempt to do this. Obviously, since I am posting this blog, I did not electrocute myself, this time.

And here is a pic of me working on desoldering the old capacitors to remove them from the monitor circuit board.

It was not as bad as every made it seem. The scariest thing is listening to all the horror stories about people blasting themselves with 20K Volts.

If you didn't buy flux to solder/desolder, GO GET SOME! It will make your job much easier. Also, buy some isopropal alcohol and acid brushes to clean it up when you're done. Don't do the 'heat till it gets liquid' thing without flux or you could possibly do some damage to the old circuit's.
