Well, as most of you know, the date for the annual 2old2play Chi-LAN has been set for August 7 - 9. Keep an eye on this page (www.2old2play.com/News/2old2play_2009_Chicago_Lan_Tickets_On_Sale_) for updates and details. We are working to make this the best LAN so far and have some exciting plans to make sure that we succeed. If you have ideas for the LAN, please forward them to myself, doodirock or any of the other site admins and we will look into it. As always, it is wise to purchase your tickets and make plans to attend early as space at the hotel is limited. So join us for the 2009 2old2play LAN and let's get our game on!
Digital Memories # 2
So I have been working on the second edition of Digital Memories, my regular column on all things pertaining to classic gaming consoles and games. For the second & third articles in this series, I will be taking a two-part look at my own collection of vintage games and systems and picking my favorite game from each console. In preparation, I have been replaying a ton of classic games and remembering why I started collecting these items in the first place. One round of Robotron 2084 on the 7800 is all it took to bring back that feeling of how cool it was to be able to use a dual-joystick setup in my own home for the first time. So keep an eye on the front page for the next issue of Digital Memories. Also, don't forget to leave a comment under the first issue here (www.2old2play.com/News/Digital_Memories___Looking_in_the_Rear_View_Mirror_to_See_the_Future#comments) for your chance to win a complete Atari 7800 Video Gaming System and 14 games courtesy of SoCal Mike over at www.chasethechuckwagon.com . I will be accepting entries until noon tomorrow, Monday the 30th. So check out Issue # 1 now and let me know what you think.
Another New Endeavor
Along the lines of vintage video games, I have embarked on a new project here in the Boston area. I am working with a local comic book shop (www.comicallyspeaking.com/) to set up a place where I can sell and trade video games in an effort to give folks in our area an alternative to GS and the few other shops that deal in older video games. So far, interest has been good and more people are stopping by to check out what we have to offer. I am confident that we will continue to draw new customers as the word gets out that there is somewhere else to buy and sell used and vintage video games and consoles. This has been a dream of mine for some time, so wish me luck. And of course, if you are ever in the area of Reading MA (just North of Boston), look me up.
Sweet Gaming Find
To help build inventory for my new project selling classic video games, I keep an pretty close eye on the local thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales and Craigs List posts. Well today I scored big with this nice find.

That's an Intellivsion Series II Console, an IntelliVoice Voice Synthesizer and 35 games, many of them boxed. I got all of this for a mere $20! I already had an Intelli II in my personal collection, but not the Intellivoice and many of the games, so this was a great find. Keep an eye on your local Craigslist or swap meet. There is a ton of crap out there, but you never know what you might come across. I also took a look at an original Asteroids coin-op cab today. The game was in fairly poor but working condition. At $400, I had to pass. However, I have noticed alot of classic arcade cabs showing up on Craiglist lately, so perhaps I will find the right one soon. If I could score a working Robotron cab, well, I would be in Geek Gamer Heaven.
