The Decent, good but not as good as the hype.

My girl and I just watched The Decent last night. This movie came up right around the same time as The Cave. Both are about groups of spelunkers who end up stranded deep in a cave and on the wrong end of a Darwinian nightmare in a struggle to get out. The Cave was not worth the $4 I spent to rent it at Blockbuster. The Decent was much better. However, I had heard so much hype about just how good this movie was, that I was left a little dissapointed. Don't get me wrong, as "Horror" flicks go, this movie was far better than most these days. However, when critics are even hyping the quality of such a flick, I expect something on the level of the first saw movie.  The best parts of the DVD were the outakes and the documentry on the making of the film. This movie was directed by Neil Marshall's, the English bloke who also wrote and directed Dog Soldiers. The documentary on the making of this film mixes dry English humor into the set of a horror movie, really good stuff. Thing The Living Dead meets Monty Python.
