I have been working very hard to coordinate a very special 2old2play sponsored event to be held here in Boston on the Wednesday before PAX comes to the East Coast on March. Things are looking pretty good and I hope to be able to make a formal announcement very soon. I am very excited about this event and think that it will not only help to establish 2old2play as a leader among online gaming communities, but it will be a night to remember. So if you are even remotely considering attending the Penny Arcade Expo in Boston next March 28 - 30, please make plans to arrive a few days early. You will not be sorry. That is all I can say for now, but definitely stay tuned for a major announcement, hopefully within the next few weeks.
In the Meantime, I have also been working very hard at my vintage video game store inside Comically Speaking (www.comicallyspeaking.com) in Reading, MA. This past week, we scored two very cool display units for the Gen I Xbox and the Gamecube. Check them out.
Xbox I Kiosk - The Green Xbox Symbol and Tubes light up. Very cool
Gamecube Kiosk - Needs a new cover glass, but otherwise is in great shape
To add to my chaotic schedule, two of my very good friends, Katie & Doug, were married on Saturday. I have been to many weddings in my time and am usually a bit stoic about the experience. I hate wearing a suit and consider most wedding ceremonies to be overly religeous and receptions a bit dodgy for the most part. However, I must say that this was the most heartwarming and excellent wedding that I have ever attended. The ceremony was short, poignant and full of mirth. The reception was low-key and fun. Everyone in the wedding party was relaxed and having a blast without going overboard. And Doug and Katie truly had to be the happiest wedding couple I have ever seen. They are both so lighthearted and genuine that the mood of the evening was pure silliness and infectious fun. I wish to extend my best wishes to Doug and Katie as they head out on their honeymoon. You two rock. Thank you for allowing us to join you for this wonderful occasion.
And finally, as the title of this blog indicates, I made some time to go fishing this afternoon. My schedule has been non-stop insanity for so long, I sometimes forget to stop and take a breath. I was able to do that via my kayak and casting lines in the pond a block from our house. Didn't catch much besides the small bass below. However, having the ability to unplug and recharge in this manner is what keeps me sane.
Little Bass at Horn Pond - He went back in to fight another day. Notice how calm the water is.
