Back from Vacation (sort of)

Well, I am back from my vacation with my girlfriend. We went to Madison, WI to attend her 20th High School Reunion. I actually had fun (much more so than if I went to my own 20th) and was able to really relax for the first time in a long time. I have some pretty cool pictures from our trip, but have not had time to upload them yet. For that matter, I have a ton of content, including interviews from the Chicago Comicon and other assorted photos that I need to organize and get up. Unfortunately, I will be working all weekend to make up for time lost on vacation, so it looks like it will be next week at the earliest before I can get back to blogging on a regular basis and hopefully also restart my monthly Column Digital Memories. I am also hoping to organize a September Community Playdate, so stay tuned for info on that to hopefully be announced shortly.

In the meantime, I have two bits of gaming/comic book news to let you folks know about. First, my friend Chris DiBari, who penned the new comic book series based on the movie The Warriors, is selling some of his original conceptual artwork from that series. You can check out what he has up for auction on eBay here: shop.ebay.com/cadencecomicart/m.html . There is some pretty cool stuff up for grabs and curretnly no bids, so definitely check it out. I hope to snag a few pages myself.

I also received an email from my friend Shota Nakama, Artistic Director for the Video Game Orchestra at Berkley College of the Performing Arts here in Boston. Shota wanted me to let everyone know that he has just posted some footage of the VGO taken at the recent IGC East event. So check out the incredible video game music played live by a full orchestra below.

I so look forward to reading your blogs. I own many video game soundtracks. Chrono Cross is one of my faves. I’ve had friends over for a party and play my game music in the back ground. Everyone wants to know who it is and how they can get a copy. ICO is another fave of mine and Fable is a great soundtrack for Halloween time. I own many game soundtracks and I attend as many game concerts as I can. Meeting my favorite composers and conductors is always a thrill for me. I’m hoping this Dec to attend the Final Fantasy Symphony concert in Chicago. I missed it in Detroit this past year. Video Games Live was a blast and even my non-gaming friends enjoyed themselves. I always worry and wonder how long they’ll keep performing. Play Symphony has dwelled down to just a few concerts a year. = ( One of my faves at Play Symphony is when they play Zelda’s theme. Sometimes the old classics are the best and the crowd always goes wild for them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi99oDALtRU&feature=related http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8169033819829939284

Thanks for the kind words Char. I have an interview that I did last spring with Gerard K. Marino, composer for the God of War series. I have been sitting on it in hopes of an official announcement of God of War III's release. I may just go ahead and post the interview soon as it is really interesting and needs to get out there. If you get a chance to hear the VGO, definitely check them out. Shota is a great AD and really helps to get the crowd into the music. He also plays guitar for the VGO in addition to working on other musical projects (like the Jerry Springer Opera) in the Boston area. I am hoping that the VGO will make an appearance at the PAX-EC event next spring. Thanks again for following my blog and stay tuned. I have some cool stuff planned, if I can only find the time to get it all done.
