I am officially the new program director and head varsity coach of Greensburg Central Catholic High School Hockey Association.
I have a rough road ahead of me. The program has fallen pretty far from the days when I was last involved. they are down from 55 kids to 14. instead of being a contender every year, they haven't made the playoffs in 8 years and finished under .500 the last four years.
The team is in bad standings with the school due to disceplinary problems and the board of directors has no past experience and doesn't know where to start to get the program back on it's feet.
Just the idea of taking over has brought back a ton of memories, but that was nothing compared to walking around the school today when I went for the final interview.
I'm stoked and can't wait to get the ball rolling. This is something that's been missing from my life for quite some time.
As an added bonus, this may give me the opportunity to send my kids to this school. It's a top notch college prep school that I would otherwise not be able to afford. my dad coaching there was the only way I was able to attend.
It was always funny when me and my friend pulling up to the school in his up old beat mercury lynx while everyone else was riding around in their new corvettes, BMWs, and the such.
