Shared on Fri, 12/11/2009 - 17:03Before i continue down the road of revelations, i'm going to interject with a little segment called "Finding my place at the table".
I arrived at 2o2p looking for players to teach me more about halo, but more importantly, looking for players to play with. Of course i started with an introduction in the "New In Town" thread. (how exciting...my first post!) I was welcomed by Garffy99 and Donk2o2p. I know you're all shocked by that, but it's true! I also recieved an invitation from scotchboy0 to join Halotards (Thanks scotch!) and he accepted my FR. I held off on Halotards because in searching for 2o2p, i had stumbled upon 2o2phalo and had already contacted them. I had not heard back yet though.
I immediately jumped into the main forums. I was still frequenting Bungie.net, but the halo3 forum there is...well, not quite for me. Whereas the forums here are much less intense. There is little to no hatred going on in the forums here, and not everything reveolves around halo. I found the more personal threads very refreshing. In the first day i had found a friend or two to play with. HONORBOUND72 and ChubENukkles befriended me and we played that night. It was awsome playig with other players with mics that weren't obnoxious or arrogant.
In hopes of finding more people to play with, i posted a thread in the FPS forum to find some. Unfortunately, i only got one response from that post. Luckily it was from ProvingUnique. He accepted a my FR and pointed me to Jonny12Gauge, the OL at 2o2phalo. I got a message from Jonny within a day or so. He invited me to come play in their clan night to see what i thought of them, and vice versa.
I joined in their party to play some custom games and we had a blast. When we got to talking, i came to the realization that i had searched all over the internet. I had chatted with players from seven different countries on four continents, only to find that the OL of the clan i was joining lives less than 10 miles from me. I've been in on nearly every clan night since and have enjoyed it every time.
I think i finally found my place at the table.
