My First Half-Marathon

Success!

Here’s a picture of me finishing the Half Marathon I ran in on Sunday.

I placed 94th out of 124, which sucks. I also placed 11th out of 13 for my age range, which doubly sucks! It was kind of embarrassing once when I got passed by a short, fat, old lady. But at least I didn’t walk. I ran the whole time. Next year, I’m going to do better!

Time: 2:21:12
Split: 10:47

It was a rainy morning. About mile 12, the rain started pouring. A lovely day :)

I’m thinking about doing the Columbus marathon next year, but I don’t know if I can summon the courage for that yet. If I do, I’m gonna have to pick up the pace!

As a multiple half and marathon runner, you cannot judge anyone but yourself.

Plan your run, run your plan.

A 2:20 half isn't setting the world on fire, but if it was your first, it is also a PR.  That is something to celebrate.

That lady that passed you likely has a lot more experience and may have more Boston QTs under her belt that I'll ever have.

Just tell yourself you've seen a thirteen miler and now it is nothing to be afraid of.
