Dish Network Annoyances

Forgetting why I hated using them a few years back, I recently started a new 2-year contract. The first year was supposed to be $25 a month, and the second was $40 a month. So what happens? After 3 months, they increase the rate by $5 a month. What the hell?

I called them to find out what was going on. Just a rate increase. No apologies. After enough bitching, they offered to cancel my "free" Starz upgrade that I never asked for, and give me a $5 credit for 12 months. But after that, I'm still shit out of luck.

What is the Goddamn point of signing a contract when Dish Network still has the power to change their rate at any time? How does the contract benefit the customer in any way whatsoever?

They also charged me for a month of premium channels that I didn't ask for. I was planning to cancel them before the trial was done, but they went ahead and billed me a month in advance. Since nowadays they require a bill autopay, they can take your money without your permission. When I complained about that, they said they would refund the month of channels that I didn't ask for on the next bill. I still have yet to see that.

Autopay sucks. If they ever make a mistake, then by default the burden is on you to see if you can get your money back. What kind of crap is that? Customer service, my ass! (Pardon my French.)

Thieving bastards. Vix is not impressed.

Foxytrot, Thanks for the nice words. I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm sure Dish Network had themselves covered in the fine print. I just wanted to rant. Have a good day :)

Meh, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know why people get all fucking worked up about how many times you blog. It's been that way forever here and the same people are still getting mad about the internet...I could see it if it was all a bunch of shit or whatever, but at least your blogs are legit.

It's cool, everyone likes frequent bloggers. But taking over the top bar is seen as poor form. If you come up with content that can't wait for tomorrow to post, just edit your blog and add it at the bottom. Keep rockin the blog!

I don't consider myself a blogger, but I do like the blogs. When someone takes the time to write one I don't want to miss it because of one person who wrote five different five line blogs. I like Vix's blogs and he didnt know that he was wiping off the bar, there is no problem there. But I want to read multiple blogs without navigating the submenus. So I understand why it is considered uncouth.

I don't have a problem with how many times you blogged. You had things to say that were more interesting then...um, well, just "really" and your posts were cool with me and....personally, there can never be too much of Chuck Norris as far as I am concerned. I guess the really post were just to move you off the submenu a bit. I didn't get that memo either so I didn't think nothing of it. As for the subject - did you look at the fine print? A lot of times its in the fine print that they reserve all sorts of nasty rights such as changing prices without even notifying you. You really have to go over things now days so as not to have the nasty surprises. Its like your credit card company, they'll up your interest rate when you've been a long standing good customer - so that is when I call them up and tell them that if this is how they reward me for being a good customer, I am getting another card and not doing business with them anymore. Its got me a reduction a few times. What your dealing with is more difficult if you live (like I do) in a remote or limited area of service choices and they've locked you in for two years. At least if it was there in the fine print - you'd maybe still have to sign it but at least have a heads up. I would chase them over that refund. They'll try to wear you down or out and get away with it but don't you let them. Its a pain but its your money!!! Do you have to autopay? If you don't you could inform them you want to make other payment arrangements and maybe get your bank or credit company to stop anymore deductions by them. Evil exists everywhere. Grrrrr.

i HATED dish network. They took my money through autopay, then claimed i didn't pay them. TWICE. As soon as my contract was up i cancelled and went back to Comcast.
