A agree that COD has become boring, but so has Halo. I think these old franchises are at high risk of falling into that "more of the same" category. I give mad props to IW and Moder Warfare 1, that truly evolved the shooters to the next stage which is what they're all in now for better or worse. But they've done little to do anything since then, it's just more of the same. I jumped off the COD train after the clusterfuck that MW2 was and I won't be returning. After Reach I'm done with Halo, i won't be partaking in Halo 4 unless 343 has done something revolutionary with the franchise. Funny enough i've got my mind set on going back to Battlefield, haven't played it since the first 360 release whatever that one was called but I have yet to actually fire it up on my console even though I do own it. 3rd person shooters have my attention right now between Gears and Mass Effect, i have no time available for FPSs.

Shooters were never really my thing, but I've been opening up to them (somewhat) over time. I definitely prefer a 3rd person to 1st person (Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, Gears), and co-op over competitive. As far as the COD games, I'll go out on a limb & say that Black Ops is the best one - Combat Training, Zombies, and the only COD campaign I had the attention span (& stomach) to complete. But it ends there... the standard multiplayer is frustrating & repetitive, and I find myself having to report some douchebag (or 3) every time. As far as Halo, I played the campaign to all because I do like the story (even read one of the books). Multiplayer is the same issue though - just not into it.
Even though I haven't played it much, I do actually enjoy Battlefield. I have Bad Company 2 and BF3. If you do go into it, hit me up... we can bitch about shooters together while we play. LOL
