Shared on Tue, 09/25/2007 - 13:18I've got some serious haters on my Friend's List who are absolutely not going to play Halo. And MTK is giving out thumbs down for any blog references to the game. So I'm on the fence, what will he do? My boys, some of my best friends, are anti-Halo. I'm no good at the game, or any game for that matter, but it's the one that got me here. It's the one that I got on Live for. It's the one that really grabs me by the short and curlies and makes me wanna finish the story. And my son and I play the Campaign together. So I'm there, wearing my nerd helmet as a codpiece and sending you pics on XBL. :D
But today is about how spoiled my son and I are. I bought an Elite this weekend so he could have his own 360 and wouldn't drive me insane hogging mine. I traded in some of my games that we don't play anymore so he could have his own copy of H3. And last night after Back to School night, he asked if I would leave his 11 yo ass at home and go pick up our copies of H3 at midnight while he slept. I'm not doing that, maybe the one sound judgment call I can claim in recent times, but boy howdy was he pissed. He didn't want to talk to me this morning!
His teacher, if you've read my blogs in the past, is usually in for a hell of a time. But it seems this summer has really mellowed the boy out. His maturity level has skyrocketed and she's telling me that he is focusing in class and getting his work done. She also told us she doesn't believe in copious amounts of homework, which is a change. That was always a real struggle. He's doing well and making me proud. I told him that if he keeps up the good work that the rewards will keep coming, but if he slides, they will begin to disappear. He's buckled down. First time ever that I've had good news at one of those functions. I nearly cried right in front of all those people.
rant removed, not in the right place for this post. Later, maybe.
I got the tint in the new Accord. The boy wants to call the car the Blueper, or the Blue Flame. He's a dork. It does look a lot less like a Mommymobile now.
And here's our gaming setups- for giggles. Mine's a 36" Sony Trinitron XBR CRT 250 lb monster. And it rocks. Elite down below and the Hulk up above.
and that's a Craftsman Socket set to the low left and Skippy to the right.
The monster's setup. Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, 360, DVR, VCR, and a crap ton of games. He's got an entire bookshelf on the other side of the room with nothing but games. Getting him to clean it, that's a whole different story!
There's just about gaming mecca right there. When he says "I'm bored." I reply "Shut up." :D Not really, but we'll play boardgames and hang together. Lately I've been reading to him because I heard it was good for even more advanced grades. He's got this kick ass beanbag chair that pwns for reading together.
That's our nerd castle. We're in gamedork heaven.
