wOOt! There, I blogged something, are you all happy now?!
I guess I always thought blogs were about something moving, inspirational... epic!
But it seems like the opposite. People blog stuff that makes them laugh, cry or pushes their buttons, and here's an example of something that just happened tonight.
I just got home from work, and I was keying in my rent payment [we have an electronic kiosk in the front lobby.]
The lobby doors are locked, with an option to 'buzz' someone to let you in.
There's this guy talking to someone over the intercom, and it's obvious the other person has no idea who he is.
Now, he starts banging on the window, wanting me to let him in. I try to ignore him.
Then, I walk away, and he gets all p*d off, starts hollering and banging on the glass. Ooooh, really classy, there mate.
Just as I'm opening my apartment door, he gets in and mouths off at me. I calmly ask, "If you wanted in, where's your key?'
"Oh, I'm visiting a friend, and I forgot his buzzer code."
[Must have forgotten his buddy's phone number and forgot to carry his cell, too.]
[The buzzer code is only 4 digits, and the first two are 00s]
[Also, there is a directory of names with their buzzer codes in plain sight.]
[Must have also forgotten he'd need to remember the code to get back in.]
I just shrugged my shoulders, and replied "Sorry, but there's even a sign that says if you don't know the person, don't let them in."
I was trying to play it calm and collected, and this guy was just seething under his breath, about me "getting yours." while waiting for the elevator. I told him I was trying to protect the people in the building.
"I'm not a criminal." he replies.
[Oh, I know you're not. Criminals stick out like a sore thumb, with their black and white stripped clothing...]
I kind of felt bad for him, but acting all ape-sh*t to a complete stranger, I don't feel too sorry.
Only thing I'm sorry about is he saw where my apartment was, especially when he went all mental over such a little thing.
Hopefully, he won't try anything in his mis-guided anger. I don't care if your 20 or 60 - If I don't know you, I'm not letting you in...
Bleah, what a way to inaugurate my blogging experience!
