You just gotta show up.

My golf team is in first place! Woot! With that being said, we have some of the worst individual averages of any team. So how does that work? Two points for showing up, baby. Plus, I've won closest to the pin twice, we've got a couple chip-ins and some longest putt challenge wins. And with a sucky average, we often get the "improvement" points. With just a tiny tweak to my stance I've been hitting the ball way better. Weird how that game works sometimes.

Facebook and Twitter...

I'm all about the cleansing right now. Yesterday I un-followed a couple people (none of you) that post WAY too much. I would go look at my iPhone tweetdeck and there would be 80-something updates in just a few hours. WTF? I can't keep up with that shit, nor do I want to. So unfortunately some people had to go. It's too bad because a few of them had some real pearls hidden among major bloat in their posts. Ah well.

But Facebook...I need some help here. There are a couple "friends" that are serious downers. EVERY post is about how much they work, how stressed they are, how sick they are, how whatever something sucky is - I think we all have a "that guy" (or girl). Is there a way to keep someone on your friends list but make it so that you don't see their updates? I haven't been able to figure it out poking around the menus. Some of these people are co-workers so I don't want to unfriend them. I just want to build my nirvana of not reading endless complaints. Help? EDIT - Figured it out! So instead of helping me figure it out - post why you ninja-kicked the last person off your Facebook or Twitter.

See a few of ya in 8 days...wootz.

In facebook you can create a group, say "People Who I Want Updates From" and put them in that group and drag that group above the newsfeed. Try this if you get lost: http://lifehacker.com/5302107/tweak-facebook-to-display-only-updates-you...

i happily found the hide button for my brothers gf. i would log on two hours after my last login and i would have about 20 updates about her latest tests. that, and she is a lol lover. every sentence begins and ends with lol or rofl. can. not. stand. that. and a couple people who i never really cared for but respect the fact they want to be my facebook friend. (who am I to say no even if i loathe them) some folks push the limit, but usually they or the topics they bring up are enjoyable enough for me to keep on there.

with tweetdeck you can use custom columns, so you can put all the people you really want to read every update from in a new column, and just worry reading that column. If you have time, then you can browse the main column for those hidden gems. Plus if you use the 'mark as read' while looking at a column, you know which messages in the main column you already seen! I also have a custom column for twitter accounts I follow that are more like news topics, not personal tweets, so that's handy when just looking for news! Plus, TweetDeck is awesome enough to keep your column setups synched between your desktop and ipod versions!

I have only kicked one person, I didn't know her, just accepted blindly. Too much crap, too much time using every single app on FB. Like it much better now
