OnLive and then some...

Is anyone going to try out OnLive when it comes out next month? On their site, they're offering a free year membership for founding members. They're only giving away so many of them, so you go on a list.

It sounds like an interesting concept...Especially when the mini TV console comes out. I'm not sure about the PC side of things though. It will be interesting to follow this company nonetheless and see if they make a dent in the industry or not. Time Lag will tell.

As for cars - thanks everyone for the advice. The JD Power report just came out and Ford has moved towards the top for the first time in a while...So I'm pretty confident I'll go with the Edge...I just have to wait. :( I hate waiting.

My next question will be FWD or AWD? Seems AWD is better in snow...But there's also the possibility it will just encourage me to drive like an asshole thereby making it net out to be less safe...Opinions? Anyone live in a super-snowy climate and notice a big difference between AWD/FWD? Anything will be better than my tiny Civic, so I'm wondering if it's that much better to justify the extra cost and the MPG loss...

I actually signed up with OnLive when they were offering a free game and free year of service for the first 20,000 signups or something. I got in. So I'm on the list of people who will get OnLive running as soon as it goes live, it was supppose to fire up yesterday but no dice. Anyway I'd got 4 wheel drive becase you can turn it on or off. If you get awd, that's on all the time. Not only do you not need that for spring/summer/fall but it also cuts down your fuel efficiency. So i'd go 4wd so you can turn it on when you need it and off when you don't to save gas.

Late to the party- From Maine- AWD FTW. I have a subaru wagon that I love (never gets stuck), but if you have to have a ford, splurge for the AWD. And good snow tires. Nothing sadder than AWD with no traction.

AWD for snow, definitely. Although there is more to break with an AWD car.

AWD is great to get you moving in slick weather, but it doesn't really give you a huge advantage if you hit a patch of ice or something once you're up to speed. Do you get a lot of snow? Might be worth it.

Helps with snow, useless with ice. Also helps with mud, although that's probably only down here that we go mud ridin'. If you were like me and the directions to your house included "turn off the paved road', definitely AWD.

AWD would be the best choice. however, Ford is notorious for saying that their SUV's have 4WD or AWD and it's actually only a FWD with the computer controlling the AWD/4WD part of it. They used to have a button you could push to demand the vehicle be put into AWD/4WD but now the computer distributes the power to the wheels accordingly. you might want to check into what version the Edge has whether it's a push button or if it's computer controlled. I have the Escape and I hate the fact i can't put it into 4WD when i want to. The computer controlled crap kind of sucks but it does get around tons better than my mother-in-laws FWD Escape. hope this helps!
