Assasins is UBi's one and only holiday release i think now, they've delayed everything else. So it should be good one would think. I've already got two other titles for nov though, cod and l4d so i'll be passing on it. I liked the first 2 hours of play in the original, it showed some really good promise but then they just repeated that first two hours over the 30 hours or so it too to play. So i want to know how repetitive the game is befor ei put down my 60, i won't play it if it was like AC1. BUt ya the 3D game thing is a gimmick , much like 3D movies. But it could be interesting , i never planned on playing Avatar but maybe i'll check it out and see how good video games translate to 3D space. I'd rent it though or pick it up bargain bin.

Damn you. When i signed up for the beta I put down my Mac as my main computer hoping that would give me an edge thinking they would want to test out their Mac client. Then I could hook my Mac up to the TV with HDMI also :)

RE: Mass Effect 2 The latest issue of Gamepro says something to the effect that if your character dies during the final battle, he's done. I guess there are a bunch of decisions that go into whether he'll live or die, so if he does die, you would need to restart a save from the middle of the game before those wheels were set in motion.

I actually was accepted into the Beta but took too long to respond and it had closed. So i had to wait until they were taking pre-launch sign-ups, the first 20,000 got a free game which I was one of. So then I just had to wait for it to go live and for my account to be permissioned. It's pretty decent but there's some give and take. But it does what it says it does, i'm playing games i wouldn't have a chance in hell of running on my old P4 system and it's smooth and responsive.

Looking forward to Deus Ex. Couldn't get into HAWX, so will probably wait a while for 2. Stalker 2 is great news indeed. Can't wait. Been looking forward to Guardian of Light, and I'm thrilled to read the review and see that the co-op may just work. Good stuff!

The YouTube video in the Dead Rising link looks amazing. Can't wait for this game and I'll keep an eye out for the Case Zero demo. I just hope the psychopaths aren't as frustratingly difficult this time around.

Prey 2...interesting. I thought the first was a bit underappreciated, but also a stellar example of tacked on multiplayer for the sake of multiplayer. I hope the second is a story driven shooter, no multiplayer, and contains another Art Bell easter egg.

I'm not sure but all XBLA games come with a free demo. You can download it and try it out free and then 'buy' it in-game with a button press, usually X.

I despise CliffyB (stems from E3 2006), but he's right to a certain extent on his desire to build games for long term consumption, rather than an 8-20 hour one and done type affair. However, the market cannot sustain multiple ongoing platforms (platform == game). The crowd for BLOPS, MW2, Halo Reach, and Gears of War 3 will be roughly the same. At some point, one platform is going to cannibalize another. Therefore, I would reject a "go long or go home" mentality from developers. For every new IP or franchise, you can't spend more money to attempt to be the next big thing. Therefore, I suggest that "middle class" games still have a place. They just need to be developed smarter - limit the budget, don't hype the ever loving hell out of it, and see if a franchise can be developed. Forget tacking on useless MP - it's just going to get stonewalled by the games mentioned above. Concentrate on a compelling SP experience and gain credibility there (a la God of War).

For me, I don't want to invest a year of my life to one single game. I like to play them, finish them and move on to the next game. I'm kind of getting tired of the trend of devs trying to keep me playing the game for 3000 hours to get the full experience. I'm good with the 30 hours experience, show me what you've done, let me play it and let me finish it so i can consume someone else's product.

I agree completely. However, I think there is a place for some games to offer that 3000 hour timesink. I just don't think you can have too many of them, or the market will be too fragmented to support them. Me, I'd rather play a game for 20 hours and move on. Occasionally, one will completely take me in (like DragonAge:Origins) and I'll put more time into it, but those special games are few and far between.

Odd thing was the copy of MW2 I nabbed on Friday last didn't have the orange "DO NOT SELL BEFORE XXX" sticker on it. I was mildly surprised, but didn't pause long enough to think about it until now. :)

things id like to see in DeadSpace2.. 1. zero gravity throughout levels, not confined to certain areas anymore. 2. being able to manipulate the world, as in taking off /putting on vents for airducts and crawling through them, being able to pick up chairs and tables and block doors, hang from hands, climb ropes etc. 3. make this one have a deeper story thats told through problem solving and puzzles, not just audio files you find throughout the ship.
