Your Their

OK, the whole correct use of Your/You're and Their/There/They're really gets me.  Examples:

At a Mexican restaurant, I saw a sign that discussed how beer could be purchased by club members and "they're guests" instead of "their guests"

In chat today, someone "maybe your right" instead of "maybe you're (you are) right"

These are important distinctions.  And, the worst to me is the pure volume of incorrect usage that I see.  It concerns me as to the future of this country when we can't even use simple words correctly.

Their.  I said it.  Your welcome.

The most frustrating to me is the widespread misuse of "to" and "too." Certainly, both can be typos, but repeated use of "to" to mean also or "too" to indicate direction grates my nerves.

I also get this one alllllloototttotttt: "Your welcome" Are you trying to say "You are welcome", which would be "You're welcome"? Or are you really trying to tell me that the 'welcome" is mine. It's "your" welcome, not mine.

* stands and applauds * There should be an annual comma and apostrophe budget. Individuals, like myself, who over-indulge should be fined !!!!!! ( Why are several exclamation marks more exclamatory than one ? )

LoL - I have a whole list of these. Fewer/Less, Irregardless, effect/affect. Real/Really, gratuitous apostrophes, and it goes on...Computers make people dumb.

I spent way too much time trying to figure out if Cricket's comment is for real or not. Either that's gibberish, or a grocery list. If it's a grocery list, I'm shocked by your condiment needs.

I believe internet grammar will be the new official language of the United States by 2010. I mean why not, only one brain cell is required to type most of the words.

Thank you. This drives me insane. Especially when you see the misuse in headlines of 'reputable' sites. +1

Don't forget "a lot." How hard is that to misspell? I'm sure some people are typing so fast that they may not hit the space bar. But those that type "allot" are more than stupid - they're adding work.

"allot" is a word. "alot" is not. "a lot" is two words and what people usually mean to type when they mistakenly type "alot" or "allot". I'm sorry, was I only allotted one comment in this thread, tait?
