Shared on Fri, 07/20/2007 - 17:04So my original 360 was almost 1 year old when the DVD drive died playing crackdown. I could hear it grinding away trying to read but it was useless. Being just a few weeks away from the Halo 3 Beta, I used my BestBuy warranty and got a new box, but it's born on date was July, 2006. I was a bit worried because this was 10 months earlier and I had little to no trust in a machine that had been sitting for so long. But I bought one anyways (because I coudln't find an Elite).
So I played H3 a few times, H2 a couple but really, in the past two months, all I've done w/ my box really is watch HD movies from Netflix. So yesterday, I bought Call of Duty 2 and within the first minute it was in my machine, it froze. I rebooted, restarted and within five minutes it froze again. I rebooted and restarted and played for about 2 hours without any problem. I took a break, spent time w/ my wife and then came back to continue my gaming experience and it froze a few minutes into the campaign. Frusterated, I restared cursing the buggy software for all the lockups as it continued to freeze until I saw the red ring of death. DAMN IT.
18004MYXBOX.
After being on hold for about 20 minutes, I finally got a support person who sounded 16, the chatter in the background was asian, and I just crossed my fingers. It was great. The guy took my serial number and as he told me my xbox was in warranty, me made it sound like I won a million dollars. I wanted to reach through the phone and tell him to hurry this up and give me my RMA # politely.
Anyways, coffin should be here in a week. Let's see how this goes.
