The Medicine Scenario was the one they discussed.
Synopsis:
You, your spouse, and two other married couples who are your friends, have all been exposed to a deadly, but curable disease. Each of you are given (2) pills that are the medicine that can cure the disease.
However, it takes (4) pills to cure the disease. (2) alone will not work.
Here's the other catch specific to your situation. You just recently found out your spouse has been cheating on you.
What do you do?
(a) - Keep the pills to yourself and hope your spouse or someone else gives you theirs?
(b) - Give your pills to your spouse even though you know they haven't been faithful to you?
(c) - Give your pills to one of the other couples? (Out of spite to your spouse)
My answer. Although I would be hurt and disappointed in finding out my wife has been cheating on me, I would still give her my pills. Here's why:
#1 - One of us has to take care of our daughter. She would do a better job then I would.
#2 - I'm older by 6 years and I'm a male. Meaning, I'll die before she does anyways.
#3 - I'm worth more if I die. My life insurance would pay off all bills, cars, and the house and there would be enough left over to help with college for my daughter. My wife's insurance coverage is only half of mine. (Our coverage comes through my work, and I don't have a say in how the coverage amounts are capped for each of us.)
Although I would be hurt and disappointed about being cheated on, I'm confident that I would be able to look past it and do what I feel is the logical thing to do and what is best for our daughter.
What would you do?
(Please refrain from the response of killing another couple and taking their pills. We all know that's an option, but who really here would take that step?)
